About the Client

Geojit BNP Paribas, today, is a leading retail financial services company in India with a growing presence in the Middle East.


Geojit BNP Paribas wanted to redesign & rebrand the trading platform “FLIP “to “SELFIE” which had three variations based on user types ( Desktop, Web & Mobile). Considering the growing trend of mobile users, the client decided to redesign their trading platform to bring unified experience for its traders and investors. The client’s major product goal was to provide its clientele with a great experience that will compel them to do more ‘Buy and Sell’ requests. Above all, they wanted to offer their clients something which gives them a great user experience. With built-in next-gen features, it should be the advanced trader friendly solution.

Business Challenges

The Platform must be capable of supporting high volume trade users in a very secure environment. The system needs to be designed to cater to the peak transaction loads during prime trade hours of market opening and closing time. It should also generate the best response in the industry. Traders typically keep a watch on their portfolios, alerts, recommendations and fund status.

The Platform needed to cater to :

  • A quick way of accessing data and a one-click order placement.
  • Platform need to cross sell other meaninful services for traders.
  • Research and strategies based on clients’ investment horizons and trading patterns.
  • Access rich information and trade on all listed companies, mutual funds, debt and commodities.
  • Access to intelligent stock screeners and data tools.
  • An intelligent portfolio tracking tool that makes information easy to understand and faster to act upon.

We were wanting Taders to come back to our platform and tell us that they had a great trading experience with our platform whilst enjoying all the features CTO, Geojit BNPParibas.

Ux Solution

With new trading platform, the trader can personalize dashboards with configurable widgets. It will also get a watch list view which is unified across web and mobile. The platform also helps the trader take informed decisions with market intelligence, market snapshot, corporate activity and historic views. Aiming to strategize for a dynamic market, the trading platform offers advanced HTML5 charting, Renko, Kagi, P&F, line break etc. The platform also opens up avenues for customized technical analysis, along with integrated trading across asset classes and products. Besides, advanced F&O Analytics & Visualization are easily made available through the platform.

Design Process

  • Worked with client business team to prepare an initial study to understand the user ( Traders & Investors) behavior and key user journeys & task flows across various devices to give customer a unified experience .
  • Prepared a Ux strategy that will be intuitive enough and minimize page navigations. A single page approach was proposed that simplifies interactions and provide quick access to portfolio and symbol informations before placing orders.
  • Information restructuring and user journeys are detailed out to prepare a wireframe.
  • Conventional dark theme was used for the UI and optionall switching of white theme also made available.
  • Design leveraged the power of html5 technologies with smooth page transitions.

Design is a rather broad and vague term. When someone says "I'm a designer," it is not immediately clear what they actually do day to day. There are a number of different responsibilities encompassed by the umbrella term designer.

UX designers are primarily concerned with how the product feels. A given design problem has no single right answer. UX designers explore many different approaches to solving a specific user problem.

The broad responsibility of a UX designer is to ensure that the product logically flows from one step to the next. One way that a UX designer might do this is by conducting in-person user tests to observe one's behavior.

A UI Developer changes computer code into words, pictures, icons or other aspects that a user can easily understand and work with, i.e. creating an "interface" with the user.

They determine flow patterns, the best places to put features, and how to reduce user friction with the interface. UI Developers understand and / or write JavaScript, AJAX, JSP and other coding, as well as back-end languages such as Java.

With solid experience, and in some cases additional education, UI Developers can grow into management roles in various areas of IT, such as a Technical Project Manager.

Let's assume we are talking about the in-house marketer. A Digital Marketing Manager manages the digital (or online) elements of the marketing mix, integrates with offline (print, PR etc), also gets involved in strategic side of things like setting KPI's.

A digital marketing manager works with other departments (sales, customer services, HR etc) to ensure the implementation of the marketing plan is coordinated, aligned, consistent and meets business objectives.

It's too easy to give a current employee the title Digital Marketing Manager purely because the senior person giving the title doesn't do digital or fully understand digital themselves but know they need to be on it.
